According to the latest rumors, Alcatel will launch its Idol 5 at the upcoming IFA trade show. The phone is rumored to feature a 5.2-inch FullHD 108p screen and use the IPS panel. The recent leaks also indicates that the upcoming Alcatel device will hit the European market at a price of €399, which is higher over the price of €250 of the rumored Alcatel A7 leaked details and images yesterday.
The Idol 5 will ship with Android 7.0 Nougat and run on the MediaTek’s MT6735 chipset under the hood, along with 16GB of inbuilt memory and a 2,800mAh battery capacity. There will be a fingerprint sensor placed on the back for unlocking the device and being used for mobile payments as the phone supports NFC. In terms of camera, the Idol 5 is expected to feature a 13MP front facing camera, while the resolution of the rear camera is still mysterious.
The Idol 5 will be the successor to the Idol 4 that was introduced at Mobile World Congress last year. It will be a mid-range smartphone, according to evident relating to the specs and cost. The Idol 4 eventually hit the U.S., but there is no information on when the Idol 5 will be launched in the U.S. and there is no rumored price point for U.S. consumers as well. However, there was a phone, which is thought to be the Alcatel Idol 5 leaked on Geekbench earlier this year that showed it’s powered by a Snapdragon 625, so the device is possible for U.S market. The Idol 5 already passed through the FCC earlier this month, which means the phone will be introduced sometime in the near future and a lot of rumors suggest that Alcatel will release it at IFA trade show in the coming week. The Idol 5 is expected to be available in at least two color options: black and silver.
