A few weeks ago, Xiaomi announced MIUI 9 version built upon Android Nougat, and after a long wait, it the company is now rolling out the global beta version. According to a post on its official MIUI forums, Xiaomi states that the new interface will be rolled out in stages, and the trio the Redmi Note 4, Redmi Note 4X and Mi 6 are the first devices to receive this honor.
The ROM beta version for these handsets is now available at the official website MIUI.com, along with the announcement of the second batch of handsets. Although it’s not clear when the support for these devices will be released, the list also includes the Mi MIX, Mi Note 2, Mi 5, Mi 5s, Mi 5s Plus, Mi Max 2, Mi Max, Redmi 4/4X.
The MIUI 9 update comes with the faster speed of app launchers, new animations and icons, the split-screen mode and more. However, the global version will miss out on a few features over the Chinese version, including the Smart App Launcher and Smart Assistant.

- New animations for launching apps (08-07)
- Simpler Home screen editor (08-07)
- New Split screen mode (08-07)
- Improved Silent mode triggered by the volume button (08-07)
- Improved readability for the start page of Messaging (08-07)
- Ability to search for apps in the dual apps settings (08-03)
Xiaomi did not forget to note that devices with “rare Bluetooth profiles” are currently hidden in the device list.

However, before starting, you should note that you’ll need to manually flash the software in case you aren’t running the previous beta ROM version. That means unlocking the bootloader is required.
