After a lot of expectations from owners, OnePlus has officially announced that the Nougat update would be rolled out for the OnePlus 2 devices. The device was launched in July 2015, pre-installing Android 5.1.1. It’s been seen as the ‘2016 Flagship Killer’. The OnePlus 2 was later updated to Android 6.0 in mid-2016.
However, OnePlus mentioned that “customer service has been telling customers this for a little while” and that “we’re happy about what we’re doing with software.” Previously, the company confirmed that Android O would come for the OnePlus 3 and 3T, and no Nougat for the OnePlus 2 was not new and users were aware of it.
A OnePlus moderator has recently written about the Nougat update for OnePlus 2 at the end of May in the forum, so the company was seemingly working on it to release for OnePlus 2 users.

Although some reports have been informed in the past weeks, there has still been a lack of communication. Putting up an official statement in the OnePlus forum would have been a dead way to put this to bed. However, according to OnePlus’ communication skills and customer service, things might have ended up this way.
OnePlus said that when they had built the OnePlus 2, they had not had the software infrastructure team in place they did now, blaming the convergence of the Hydrogen and Oxygen teams for the miss of the update.
OnePlus is thinking about ending this drama by releasing an official statement its forum to announce when or if the OnePlus 2 will taste the official Nougat update. Spreading inconclusive information through unconventional channels is making OnePlus have things bad for itself when its upcoming flagship killer is going to be announced.
