After a long wait, Xiaomi finally confirmed to introduce a new smartphone on 26th this month. The company has announced on its Weibo that it would take the wraps off the Mi 5X at a press event on the next Wednesday. The announcement post also comes with a promo image, giving us more detail of the upcoming smartphone.
According to the image, the Xiaomi Mi 5X will sport a rear dual-camera setup along with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, which is covered by a metal body. The phone will pre-ship with the MIUI 9 custom layout on top based on Android Nougat, which is also officially be announced on the same day. While other specs have not yet to be confirmed yet, there were a lot of previous rumors about the device so far.
The Xiaomi Mi 5X is expected to feature a 5.5-inch IPS display with Full HD resolution. Powering the phone will be the Snapdragon 625 octa-core chipset under the hood, accompanying with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. In terms of color option, the Mi 5X is expected to be available in Black, Gold, and Rose Gold. Since it’s a rest of Xiaomi’s lineup, the phone will offer a great bang for the buck. The Mi 5X is rumored to retail for CNY 1,999, which is approximately $295. However, you should note that these are only rumors until now, as there is not any confirmation from Xiaomi yet.
Except for its home market, the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 5X probably won’t hit Western markets, but you’ll likely be able to grab one for yourself from a variety of Chinese retailers such as GearBest, for instance, but the pricing, of course, will a little bit higher.
